The Yirgacheffe region in Ethiopia, widely regarded as producing the finest coffees in the world, is also the birthplace of coffee. Legend has it that in the 9th century, a goatherder by the name of Kaldi stumbled upon the coffee berries in the Kaffe Jungle. He noticed that the goats feasting on these berries were energized. So he took these berries home and the world was introduced to an enchanting beverage. Today the coffees from this region are valued for their fruity and bright notes along with its smooth and easy profile. A unique balance rare in coffee.

More than 800 smallholder family farmers surrounding the Aricha village deliver freshly picked coffee cherries to the nearby Adorsi washing station. As part of the quality control process, fresh cherries are floated in water to separate lower qualities before depulping. Traditional disc pulpers are used and the coffee is allowed at least 24 hours to ferment before being fully washed and set to dry on raised beds for 10-12 days on average.
